Pet Travel Scheme (PETS)

The Pet Travel Scheme allows pet Dogs, Cats and Ferrets to return to or enter the UK from around the world without quarantine as long as they comply with the PETS requirements.

The requirements for pet travel are summarised on the GOV.UK website:

https://www.gov.uk/bring-pet-to-great-britain

https://www.gov.uk/government/news/new-rules-for-pet-travel-from-1-january-2021

Since the UK left the EU the GB Pet Passport is no longer valid to travel to the EU including Ireland, Switzerland, Norway and Northern Ireland. To go to these countries pets with a GB Pet Passport or no Pet Passport should have an Animal Health Certificate (AHC) issued by an Official Veterinarian within 10 days of travel along with the support paperwork for the Microchip implant and Rabies vaccination.

An Echinococcus tapeworm treatment is now required before travelling to Ireland, Finland, Malta, Norway, and Northern Ireland.

The Lydd Pets team must receive all documentation for the pet(s) by email at least 24 hours prior to arrival.

IMPORTANT NOTICE: Only authorised carriers which comply with the requirements of the Lydd Pet Travel Scheme and hold an approval for the route issued by DEFRA will be accepted. For assistance or to apply for a route into Lydd Airport please contact Kate Adams (kate.adams@lydd-airport.co.uk)
