Job Summary

Lydd airport is a busy and expanding general aviation airport, we serve a wide range of aircraft operations including corporate, private, training, military and unmanned.

We are excited to offer a unique role within our expanding operations department.

Airside Operations Team Member.

This new role covers the whole of the airside operations tasks, including, but not limited to, Aircraft refuelling, fuel management, aircraft “turnarounds” (passenger handling, luggage and freight handling, aircraft services etc), airfield management (snow clearing, runway checks, wildlife control etc), Airside driving (fuel trucks, tugs, vans etc) Aircraft towing.

We also require the successful candidates to obtain a Radio Operators Certificate of Competence and provide an Air Ground Communication Service outside of normal ATC operating hours. Full training will be given. This element of the role requires the delivery of information to pilots operating on and in the vicinity of the aerodrome, allowing them to make decisions to conduct a safe flight. Therefore, the successful candidate must be able to communicate effectively in a sometimes-pressurised environment, evidence a level of IT literacy, and be comfortable working alone. The team will be working a shift system covering 24hrs a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year.

A UK drivers’ licence is essential, experience of driving larger vehicles is desirable (LGV licence is not essential).

A DBS check and 5-year background check will be completed and must be passed satisfactorily before employment can be confirmed.

Airfield duties

Runway and Airfield Ground Lighting inspections

Runway condition reporting

Wildlife control

Contamination clearing (Foreign Object Debris / Snow etc)

Hangar Housekeeping

Airfield operations

Radio licence holder

Air Ground operations

Airfield security

Attend and complete training courses as required to comply with policies, procedures, and legislation.

Full training will be given in all aspects of the role

42 Hours per week, currently on a 4 on / 4 off roster (subject to change), equivalent to 30 days Annual Leave per year (including Bank Holidays). Salary £27,000 rising to circa £30,000 after successfully training and meeting the requirements of the role.
